Earning customer loyalty requires you to show that you are there for them, are trustworthy, and will do whatever you can to help them. Especially in uncertain times like the ones we are living in now due to COVID-19 (coronavirus).

1. Adopt open communication
In times like these, the reality is that your customers need the truth about what’s going on and how it will affect their relationship with your business. Here are some tips:

Keep the lines of communication open and respond promptly. If that means hiring a virtual assistant to answer the phone, consider it;
Provide your customers with information about how your company is managing processes during the coronavirus crisis. If possible, create a separate page on your website dedicated to what you are doing during this time;
Put this page and your contact information front and center on your homepage to enable quick and easy communications. Link to the page in all your communications;
Encourage feedback from your customers so you know what you can do to be there for them. Implement processes to meet those needs as they evolve.
You don’t always know the answers to your clients’ questions, and it’s best to say so when you don’t. Make sure to direct them to reliable sources of information for all their health-related questions.

2. Provide amazing customer service
Customer service is essential, regardless of the crisis. But since you can’t physically contact your customers right now, you’ll need to get creative during this time. Use these tips:

You know your market like no one else. Anticipate any issues that may arise due to the extraordinary circumstances we find ourselves in. Be proactive and provide solutions to customers for these issues;
use personalized emails or phone calls to discuss orders and make suggestions;
In each order, include a gift or other type of treat, with a note with a positive message, which will reassure your customers that you are still by their side;
If you have supply chain or staffing issues, be transparent and let customers know there may be a delay before they need to ask or find out there is a problem.
